Simply Sketched 14

Thank you for joining us for another Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge!

We’re so excited to be sharing this hop with you.  The products used are all available in the current Annual, or seasonal, Stampin’ Up!® Catalogues*.

Simply use the buttons at the bottom of the post to keep hopping.

Today's sketch was set by Sally Shaw.

I am a massive fan of Star Trek.  I met my husband at a Star Trek convention, as a matter of fact.  And when I looked at the sketch, what immediately came to mind was the USS Enterprise viewed from above.

So that's what I did.

It's mostly a door by paper piecing with a bit of stamping with the Labeller alphabet.  (The inside reads ...and have a great day)

Thank you for visiting, and now if you'd just care to step this way to the

Pootlers Design Team - Lovely Stitching Week 1

What's black and white and red all over?  No, not a penguin with sunburn!

It's my card for the Pootlers' Design Team.

Each Thursday in August I, and three of my team-mates (you can find out more about us at Pootles.com) will be making something using the same stamp set - Lovely Stitching.

I have to be honest, this wasn't a set that caught my eye in the annual catalogue and I had a few minutes of "what am I going to make with THAT?" before the ideas started coming.  The word "Lovely" caught my eye, and then I associated it with the phrase "Lovely as a tree"...then remembered the tree die that's in the Thoughtful Branches set...which I decided looked good as a silhouette so I decided I'd make a card in black & white...then decided that a pop of colour would be good...and the old joke "what's black & white & red all over?"  came into my head - and there we are.

As well as the die from Thoughtful branches and the stamps from Lovely Stitching I used some of the letters from the Labeller Alphabet, Real Red and Whisper White card, and Real Red and Basic Black ink.  (If you want to see the card being made, there'll be a tutorial on my YouTube channel soon- there's a link over to the right there).

Thanks for visiting - come back again soon!
