Simply Sketched 23

Thank you for joining us for another Simply Sketched Saturday

Challenge!

We’re so excited to be sharing this hop with you.  The products used are all available in the current Annual, or seasonal, Stampin’ Up!® Catalogues*.

This time the challenge has been set by Dee Copus-Reed.

As well as the sketch, Dee gave us a couple of extra conditions – we had to make a gift card holder with a masculine theme. Here’s my attempt.

I rotated the sketch so that it was in portrait orientation, and used the guitar from “Country Livin’” I haven’t played with my watercolour pencils for a while so I made the most of the chance to use them.

To make it a gift card holder, I fell back on one of my favourite ways of presenting a card – the “slide-up”.  (If you want to know how I made it, keep an eye on my YouTube channel – I’ll be posting a tutorial there soon)

OK, so that’s my contribution and I do hope you liked it.  Now, if I could just encourage you to go and check out what Keila  has created by clicking the button below
I know you’re going to love what the rest of the team has done, so keep hopping!

All you need is..

Love is all you need!

I've been wanting to make one of these Floating Letters cards (sometimes called Eclipse cards) for some time, but somehow couldn't find the inspiration until now!

These cards are super-popular at present.  I combined the technique with the Versamark Resist technique - I think it works well!

Here's the tutorial -

What do you think?  I love the colours, even if I say so myself!

Bye for now,

Treat box - with cat!

Hello and welcome to my blog.

Two of my favourite things feature on today's project - Hallowe'en and cats.  (While we're taking about cats, our Mysti has decided that she is overwhelmed by all the attention after her appearance in my video earlier this month and is valuing her privacy behind the bedroom TV.)

An easy project, this one.  And you could store the boxes flat until you're ready to fill and embellish them.  Here's the video -

Isn't it cute? It holds three Hershey's Kisses without too much trouble, or you could probably fit in a few toffees - depends on how generous you want to be!

See you again soon,

Let there be Peace on Earth...

 Hello, and welcome.

OK, I know we've only just got past the summer holidays and we haven't even got to Hallowe'en yet, but it will be Christmas before we know it.  So I've been playing with some of the yummy supplies in the Autumn/Winter Stampin' Up! catalogue to get ready for the big day.

I love music paper.  I did study music at school ( I was pretty good at theory but I'm not a very good performer, unfortunately!) so maybe that's why.  The Merry Music DSP went to the top of my wish list when I saw it - LOVE it!

I'm also loving the striped ribbon - so elegant! - and the green sprigs.  The ornament embellishments would make good earrings as well as being fab for your craft projects...and the narrow red ribbon is so gorgeous - pictures truly do not do it justice!

OK, I've waffled on enough - here's the tutorial -

Thanks for visiting.

PS  -the sciatica is much better so I can stop moaning about it.  I'm sure you're as relieved as I am!

Box & Candle

Hello, and welcome.  Today  I've been getting ready for the festive season by doing some box making.

It's another short post today.  I'm on the mend (hooray!) - but it's been a difficult week.  It should be against the law to have sciatica and a stomach bug at the same time, that's all I will say!  Thanks for the good wishes - I do appreciate them.

Anyway, luckily, Mysti the cat has been around to help.  If you keep watching to the end of the tutorial, you can see how she's been helping me.
Very much hoping that I'll be back to normal soon!

Joy Rosettes

It's a short and, I hope, sweet post today folks.  Not to bore you with the details, but I am suffering with sciatica and can barely sit at my keyboard.  Luckily, today's project was filmed well ahead of time!

Strangely enough, while sitting, bending, or even lying down is blooming' painful, standing is not too bad, so crafting can continue!

See you again soon!

Pop-Up Coffee Cup

Hello, and welcome!

I am not a lover of coffee - I'll admit that right away.  My husband loves strong black coffee, but give me a nice cup of Earl Grey tea any day.

My colleague loves coffee, though.  And I love pop-up cards so this card would work for both of us!

I was really pleased to see these stamps and companion dies in the annual catalogue.  I loved the Perfect Blend stamps that SU used to sell (I was sad when they retired!) because they were so useful for my coffee-loving friends.  These are a very welcome replacement.

Want to see how I made the card?  Here's the tutorial!

Of course, it doesn't have to be all about the coffee - and if you check out the new Autumn/Winter catalogue there's a set of stamps that extend the scope a bit -check out page 46!

I may just need these stamps...

That's it from me for today - but I'll be back again soon!

Crafty Hugs,

Keren
