My Granny's Apron

Hello blogging peeps! So, Christmas has come and gone for another year and I hope you had a good one.  Ours was quiet, just the two of us and the cat (who had a wonderful time exploring all the boxes).  I mention the cat, because she made filming today's tutorial...interesting.

Today's project is a a criss-cross card.  This kind of card works very well as a way to present a gift card, so that's what I 've made.

The Criss-Cross card reminds me of the aprons my grandmother used to wear.  They were almost a sleeveless dress, covering her clothes completely,  and she wore one every day unless she was going out.  Some of the patterns in the  Pretty Petals DSP stack are very like the cotton fabric the aprons were made from.
Here's the tutorial -

Keep watching to the very end  if you want to see a special appearance by Mysti the cat!

See you soon!

It's beginning to look a lot like...

Hello everyone.  Here's my last blog post before Christmas, and it's short and sweet!  This is a really easy way of taking a plain gift bag and turning it into something special.  I hope you like it, and I wish you a happy and healthy festive season.

See you next week!

Season's Blessings,

Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible...

OK, it should have been a Simply Sketched blog hop Saturday...but because everyone's very busy, and it's Christmas, the team's decided to take a break until after Christmas.

So, this is what I WOULD have been sharing...

As you can see, it's pretty Christmassy.  And as I'd already filmed the tutorial, it seems a shame to waste it.  So I'll share it anyway!

Thank you for visiting!

This little light of mine

Hello bloggers, welcome to my blog!

The Festive Season is practically upon us – I've already been to three parties and I've one more to go, as well as the office Secret Santa/Christmas Sweater buffet lunch (that’s today!)  - and I haven’t even got my tree up yet.
As a matter of fact, we are debating whether or not to put the tree up this year.  The cat HATES it, because it goes in the window and spoils her view of the street outside.  We've even caught her trying to use her laser vision to destroy it ! :)

There’ll definitely be lights, though.  Yule- the winter solstice - is the longest night of the year so lights of all sorts are in order.

This little luminary is based on the Baker’s Box. It’s die-cut in vellum with a battery tea-light inside (I love boxes too and a die that helps me make cute little containers is fine by me!).  And I had to play with the Sleigh Ride Edgelits some more before they retire...

Here's how I made it.  If you enjoy, please subscribe, like and/or comment - I do so enjoy hearing from you.

See you soon!

Fleece Navidad

Hello bloggers, me again!

Today's card feature a sweet punch art sheep, who is hoping for a snog from a handsome ram- we're calling her Baabara -

My husband had lots of fun coming up with alternative sentiments - like - "Baa Humbug!" and "Fleece on Earth".  The card is going to some friends in Australia - and yes, I know they have a lot of sheep in Australia but I don't know if they have urban sheep.  I bet their sheep are nice, well-behaved sheep, not the wooly hooligans we have here...

Here's the video...

And here's the supply list.

Nesting Parcels Christmas Card

Hello bloggers, thank you for visiting today.

Today’s card transforms from one parcel to three.  You could, if you wanted, tuck a gift card into the middle layer.

It’s reasonably straightforward to make – however, you do need to pay attention to the measurements so that the three layers nest properly.  Here are the measurements you will need –

Cut three pieces of card –
11 ½ by 3 ½, score at ½ inch, and 5 ¾ inch (finished size 5 ¼ by 3 ½)
8 ½ by 3 ¼, score at ½ inch and 4 ½ inch (finished size 4 by 3 ¼)
6 by 2 ¾, score at ½ inch and 2 ¾ inch (finished size 2 ¾ by 2 ¾)

On the reverse of each piece of card, draw a line ½ inch from the bottom edge.  One the medium and large pieces, also draw a line ½ inch from the top.

Mark the halfway points for front and back of the finished layers, from the left (where you scored at ½ inch) –

Large -  3 ¼ (for the notch) and 8 ½ (for the slit)
Medium – 2 ½ and 6 ½
Small   - mark on the bottom edge at 4 5/8

Like this -

Cut three pieces of DSP -

5 x 3 1/4
3 3/4 x 3
2 1/2 x 2 1/2

Now see the tutorial for how it all goes together!
I hope you've enjoyed this project, and I hope you'll give making one of these cards a try.  Let me know how you get on - I do love to hear from you.

Oh, by the way - if you like the papers, ribbons and embellishments I used in this card, some of them are being retired when the new catalogue comes into force at the beginning of January - so if you want them, don't wait to order-  You can shop with me by clicking the link at the top of the page, or go straight to the item you want by clicking the link below.

Back soon with another project.  See you then!

Simply Sketched Saturday - 4

Thank you for joining us for another Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge! We’re so excited to be sharing this hop with you.  The products used are all available in the current Annual, or seasonal, Stampin’ Up!® Catalogues*. Simply use the buttons at the bottom of the post to keep hopping.

Here's this week's sketch as set by Ania-

I'm feeling very festive right now, with the holiday season upon us.  In fact, when you read this, I will have been to my first Christmas party of the year with some of my colleagues from the office.  So my contribution is a Christmas card.
See the gold "Peace" sentiment?   I cut it out in craft foam (also known as fun foam or funky foam).  In its original size, it was too big for the card, so I used my heat gun to shrink it (carefully, because if you get too close you can make the foam shrivel up.  How do you think I know that?) Ever since I discovered that you can shrink this stuff I have been having so much fun with it!

Once it was shrunk right down, I pressed it into my Versamark ink and dipped it into gold embossing powder before heating it again.  And there you are!  Now, if you're working your way through the blog hop, please move on to the
Or if you're working your way backwards, you can go to the

Whichever it is, I do hope you enjoy the hop.  See you soon!

Santa in a Box

Hello blog friends, and than you for visiting.

Today I've made this Card-in-a-box.  The festive season will soon be here and it's hard to believe that I just had my first anniversary as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.  It's been great fun and I am so glad I joined.  One of the perks of being a SU! Demo is that you get to see the new catalogue and to order from it before anyone else...and there's some gorgeous things coming up in the Spring/Summer catalogue...you're going to LOVE it!

Bit I've teased you enough.  There's still time to play with the lovely things in the Autumn/WInter catty, and today I've been busy making this card-in-a-box.

Here's how I made it -

And what I used to make it is at the end of this post.  See you again soon!

Keren
