Just Sail Away Shadow Box Frame Sampler

Hello and welcome!

Today I'm sharing this sampler in a 6x6inch shadow box frame.  I chose this size because it is large enough to allow me to put a number of different items to be interesting but not so large as to be overwhelming. A sampler is good way of using up small scraps of paper so that nothing gets wasted and I wanted to use every little bit of the Come Sail Away DSP!

The frame was very inexpensive - under £3 - and as well as making the sampler, I altered the frame a bit as well.  The finished item is going to be on display in our home.  Most papercraft projects have a short life, so it makes me happy when I make something that I can keep around for a while!

Here's the video-

In the end, it didn't turn out quite as I'd planned - I was going to stamp the frame with the crackle paint stamp, but it didn't look right with the sampler, so I painted over it and then sponged Soft Suede ink over the edges and I'm very pleased with the result - another happy accident!

InspireINK - Retiring Favourites

Hello and welcome!  Today I'm taking part in the InspireINK blog hop.
Today's theme is -

Yes, it's nearly time to say goodbye to the products that will be leaving the Stampin' Up! range when the new catalogue goes live next week.  Before we do, though, let's have one more play with some of the things we've loved.

I'm going to miss the Gingham Gala DSP.  Gingham check is a very useful pattern to have in your crafty stash.  I've used Grapefruit Grove and Lemon Lime Twist (one of the retiring In Colours) on the front of my gatefold card, very bright and zingy!

When you open the card,  shutters slide apart to reveal the Pretty Kitty inside.  These stamps have been among my favourites.  The cat reminds me of my lilac Persian, Mysti - particularly when she was a kitten and very cheeky!
This kind of card has a few different names.  I know it as a marquee card and yes, I will be posting a tutorial in a day or so, so check out my channel later in the week.

Keep crafting,

Keren

Sail Away Shadow box card

Hello and welcome to my blog.

Today I've made a shadow box card using items from the Just Sail Away suite.
I'm a bit of a pushover for anything with a nautical theme and this ticks all the right boxes for me!
I decided to use the shadow box part as a way of displaying a photo. I thought it would be a nice way of sharing a memory.

Here's how I made the card.

OK, I know I'm teasing you with products from the new catalogue, but it won't be long now before everyone can order the new goodies! Don't forget to ask your Demonstrator for your copy!

A box full of Hummingbirds

Hello and welcome!

Sneaky peek time - today I’ve been playing with the Mosaic Mood Designer Series paper, which is going to be in the new catalogue.

When paper’s this beautiful, you don’t really need much of anything else to make a lovely project.

I. LOVE. THIS. PAPER.  When I was a little girl I was given a book of stories from Roman legends and it was one of my best presents ever.  I read those stories of gods and heroes over and over again and this paper reminded me so much of the pictures in that book and of Roman mosaic pictures.  I always imagined the spirit of Hope, which was the last thing to come out of Pandora’s Box, as looking like a hummingbird - so that's what inspired this project!

The fold-flat box card is one of my favourite things – easy to make, but makes a big impact. Here’s how I made this one.  I hope you like it!

Mosaic Mood card - Quick & Easy

Hello, and welcome!

Today's project is a very simple card. It's just card, beautiful paper, and some heat-embossed stamping.

When the paper is so gorgeous it's a shame to cover it up, don't you think?

The Mosaic Mood DSP will be available when the new catalogue goes live on 4 June (or, if you join me as a demonstrator you can get it now!)

Lovely Lace

Hello and welcome!

Today I've taken one of the Sweet Treat cups and given it a rather frilly makeover.

It took me some time to convince myself I needed the Delicate Lace dies.  I don't understand why it did, because I really love the look of lace on a craft project and those dies were at the top of my wish list when I first saw them.  Somehow, though, other goodies sneaked in ahead of them and I began to worry that they would retire with the new catalogue before I got them in my hands.

I'm happy to say, though, that after I bought my set, I saw that they would not be retiring at the end of May but will be with us for another year. Sadly, the treat cups will not be carried over and will only be available until the end of May or while stocks last - so if, like me, you find these little containers useful for all sorts of things, now is the time to stock up.

Here's how I gave the cup a makeover -

This would look so sweet on a dressing-table with trinkets inside, don't you think?  If pink isn't your thing, I think it would look good in pastel shades of other colours - say Soft Sea Foam and Mint Macaron, or Pool Party and Coastal Cabana...what do you think?

Pop Up Flowerpot

Hello, and welcome!

You know I love pop-up cards, right?

Today’s project is a pop-up flowerpot.  I was inspired by a YouTube video by Karen Burniston, and wanted to reproduce something similar using Stampin’ Up! products.  It turned out to be one of those projects that just don’t work as planned!

In fact, I made it (almost!) twice.  The first version was a standard 4 by 5 ¾ card, and I discovered that I didn’t like it, so I remade it as a 4 x 4 square.  I also discovered that the sprigs and leaves got a bit floppy, so I cut two of each and stuck them together back to back.

Here’s how I made it –

I really like how the Grapefruit Grove gingham paper looks with the Mint Macaron card.  Grapefruit Grove is a colour I’ve struggled to use up until now, but it works fine with the Mint Macaron.  Maybe I can learn to love it after all – it’s going to be with us for another year so there’s time!

Lots of the other things I’ve used in this project are going to be retiring, though, so if there are any products that are on your wish list and the retiring list, then don’t wait – these items will only be there while stocks last.  I’ll be sad to say goodbye (but happy to say hello to the new things coming soon!)

Keep Crafting,

Keren
