BIG pop-up cube

Hello, and welcome!

Today I'm revisiting one of the early projects from my YouTube channel - the pop-up cube.

I've made the pop-up cube in a few sizes.  This is the largest I've ever made and is probably the largest that can be made using A4 card.  It uses 2 sheets and the cube is 3 3/4 " on a side.

I think I've improved my technique for assembling these over the years, too.  Here's how I made this one -
The envelope is made out of 12 by 12 paper.  Here's the cutting/scoring plan -

Place glue or tape on the outside of the narrow flaps and fold them inside, then fold the front of the envelope onto the taped flaps.

I love action cards and this is one of my favourite actions.  It really has the "wow" factor!

Thanks for visiting,

Pop Up Flowerpot

Hello, and welcome!

You know I love pop-up cards, right?

Today’s project is a pop-up flowerpot.  I was inspired by a YouTube video by Karen Burniston, and wanted to reproduce something similar using Stampin’ Up! products.  It turned out to be one of those projects that just don’t work as planned!

In fact, I made it (almost!) twice.  The first version was a standard 4 by 5 ¾ card, and I discovered that I didn’t like it, so I remade it as a 4 x 4 square.  I also discovered that the sprigs and leaves got a bit floppy, so I cut two of each and stuck them together back to back.

Here’s how I made it –

I really like how the Grapefruit Grove gingham paper looks with the Mint Macaron card.  Grapefruit Grove is a colour I’ve struggled to use up until now, but it works fine with the Mint Macaron.  Maybe I can learn to love it after all – it’s going to be with us for another year so there’s time!

Lots of the other things I’ve used in this project are going to be retiring, though, so if there are any products that are on your wish list and the retiring list, then don’t wait – these items will only be there while stocks last.  I’ll be sad to say goodbye (but happy to say hello to the new things coming soon!)

Keep Crafting,

Keren

Jumpin' Jack ...Frost!

Hello and welcome!
I’m sharing a pop-up card today, just because I love a good action card.   I also love these Spirited Snowmen, they make me smile!

(Oh, and did you notice those die cut snowflakes?  They are from a set of thinlets that will only be on sale in November 2018, so if you love them, don't wait too long!)

The pop-up mechanism for this card is the parallelogram.  I’ve made hollow cubes of card that are glued to the card base and the pop-ups, so that when you open the card it lifts the pop-up piece.

It's easy to do - even if not so easy to explain!

It's probably easiest to understand if you watch the tutorial -

I used a Wobbler spring to make my snowman appear to be jumping over a snow drift.  These aren't easy to come by in the UK. I do have a couple of do-it-yourself versions that you might want to try.  Here's an extra tutorial for you.

Beautiful Blizzard

Hello, and welcome!

I'm sharing the project that I made LIVE on Facebook.

It's a Twist & Pop card.  I can't stop making these cards!
Have you seen the new catalogue yet?  This bundle - Beautiful Blizzard - was right at the top of my shopping list.  I love making winter themed cards - they aren't necessarily for Christmas, and I think you could this bundle for a winter birthday or just to send a special message.

The edited video is now on my YouTube channel (if you want the unedited version, it's on my Facebook page - just search for Tuppence Coloured).

After saying that this doesn't have to before Christmas, of course it definitely could be a  holiday message for someone special.

Have you started your Christmas crafting yet? What's on your shopping list?  Don't be shy, let us know!

Keep Crafting,

Floating Panel Pop-up Card

Hello - and welcome!

I enjoy making pop-up cards, and I love it when you open a card and it surprises you (although the confetti flinger card is maybe going a bit far!)

This one has a nice, gentle surprise inside.

And it's probably one of the easiest kind of pop-up mechanisms.

Here's the tutorial-

Isn't that so cute?

(You can find the supplies I used at the bottom of this post.  Click on the link to go straight to the item in my online shop - good, eh?)

See you soon,

Keep crafting,

Keren

Pop-Up Coffee Cup

Hello, and welcome!

I am not a lover of coffee - I'll admit that right away.  My husband loves strong black coffee, but give me a nice cup of Earl Grey tea any day.

My colleague loves coffee, though.  And I love pop-up cards so this card would work for both of us!

I was really pleased to see these stamps and companion dies in the annual catalogue.  I loved the Perfect Blend stamps that SU used to sell (I was sad when they retired!) because they were so useful for my coffee-loving friends.  These are a very welcome replacement.

Want to see how I made the card?  Here's the tutorial!

Of course, it doesn't have to be all about the coffee - and if you check out the new Autumn/Winter catalogue there's a set of stamps that extend the scope a bit -check out page 46!

I may just need these stamps...

That's it from me for today - but I'll be back again soon!

Crafty Hugs,

Keren
