Lovely Lace

Hello and welcome!

Today I've taken one of the Sweet Treat cups and given it a rather frilly makeover.  

It took me some time to convince myself I needed the Delicate Lace dies.  I don't understand why it did, because I really love the look of lace on a craft project and those dies were at the top of my wish list when I first saw them.  Somehow, though, other goodies sneaked in ahead of them and I began to worry that they would retire with the new catalogue before I got them in my hands.

I'm happy to say, though, that after I bought my set, I saw that they would not be retiring at the end of May but will be with us for another year. Sadly, the treat cups will not be carried over and will only be available until the end of May or while stocks last - so if, like me, you find these little containers useful for all sorts of things, now is the time to stock up.

Here's how I gave the cup a makeover - 

This would look so sweet on a dressing-table with trinkets inside, don't you think?  If pink isn't your thing, I think it would look good in pastel shades of other colours - say Soft Sea Foam and Mint Macaron, or Pool Party and Coastal Cabana...what do you think?

Box basics

Hello everyone, and welcome!

Today's project has been waiting to be published for almost a month!  I am still playing catch-up, so I hope you'll forgive me. I made this box to fit a notebook I wanted to send to my upline as a thank-you gift - I bound the notebook myself, using some retired DSP for the cover, so I needed a custom-sized box 

As I was doing the calculations for the  box, I had a lightbulb moment.  Up until now, I have done my working-out old-school - using paper & pencil and good old arithmetic. It suddenly struck me that I use Excel to make calculations in my day job, so why wasn't I using it to help me calculate my box dimensions?  

I am honestly ashamed that it has taken me until now to think of it.

Purple Hearts

Hello and welcome!

I really love using die-cuts in my crafting.  I’ve had a Big Shot since they were introduced and it’s seen regular use ever since.  The basic shapes are always in use for matting and for framing images, and I am so happy that Stampin’ Up! have included some heart shaped dies in the new catalogue.  I’ve really missed having heart shapes to play with!

The inspiration for today’s project came from an article in Craft Stamper magazine.  The original used wooden embellishments, but I knew as soon as I saw it that I wanted to make my own version with paper and card.  I also liked the colour palette in the Petal Promenade DSP – it seems quite Victorian to me. Here's how I made my version - 

I debated whether the larger heart should go inside or outside the box.  The original had three small hearts inside the box with a large heart on the lid.  I decided to have the large heart with the sentiment inside, to surprise the recipient when they open the box.  What do you think?  By the way, that sentiment is a Sale-A-Bration stamp (so it was free...)

I can pretty much promise that I’ll be sharing more projects using the dies in the coming weeks.  Now all we need are some star shapes and I’ll be soooo happy…

Time for a treat!

Hello, and welcome!

Today’s project is an oldie but a goodie.

These little treat holders have been around for a long time.  They are very quick and easy to make, and a cute way of presenting a small treat.  I’m giving my tea-loving friend a teabag and a chocolate treat, but you could substitute a small bag of sweets for the teabag if tea’s not your thing. 

I do enjoy a cup of tea myself so I was really happy to find the Time for Tea bundle in the annual catalogue - it went right at the top of my shopping list.  And what about the Petal Promenade Designer Series paper, another of my must-haves?  So, so pretty, and so easy to use for a great result.
