Tricky Treat Box

Hello, and welcome.

Do you ever come across an idea that is just so simple but just genius, you don't know how it's never been thought of before?

The closure to this box is one of those ideas.  I first saw it shared by Caroline Helwigh (Crafty Caroline) and I knew that I wanted to use it - and I've been waiting for just the right project ever since.

This box can hold a treat - but there's a trick to opening it!

The band that holds it closed doesn't slide off ( it's stuck to the bottom of the box).  Instead, you need to slide the sentiment all the way over to the left.  Only then can you get to whatever goodies are inside!  Isn't that clever?

Of course, there's a tutorial - just visit my YouTube channel!

I saved some time by using the Stampin' Up! mini pizza boxes.  I love how these store flat and are so sturdy.  I use them for storing my small odds and ends (like beads) as well as for small gifts.  So useful!

So that's today's project!  Thanks for visiting me!

Keep crafting!

Tiny Autumn treat box

Hello, and welcome!

Oh, how I love this cute little box! It's just big enough to hold a few sweets, or a single chocolate truffle, or a small piece of jewellery.

The thinlets dies make this an easy project, and I had so much fun decorating it.  This is how it all went together.

What do you think would fit inside?

Keep crafting,

Keren

Time for a treat!

Hello, and welcome!

Today’s project is an oldie but a goodie.

These little treat holders have been around for a long time.  They are very quick and easy to make, and a cute way of presenting a small treat.  I’m giving my tea-loving friend a teabag and a chocolate treat, but you could substitute a small bag of sweets for the teabag if tea’s not your thing.

I do enjoy a cup of tea myself so I was really happy to find the Time for Tea bundle in the annual catalogue - it went right at the top of my shopping list.  And what about the Petal Promenade Designer Series paper, another of my must-haves?  So, so pretty, and so easy to use for a great result.

See how simple they are to make -

Quick and easy - what sort of treat would you like to find in a pouch like this?  Let me know your ideas!

Keep crafting,

Keren

A custom-sized box

Hello and welcome!

Sometimes you need to make a box to fit a particular item.  If you are going to make a box with a fitted lid, you measure the length, width and height of the object  and then you need a piece of card that is  Height+Length+Height by Height+Width+Height in size.

Your score lines need to be at the Height measurement on all 4 sides.

To make the lid, you either need to cut the card a tiny bit bigger or, and this is the method I prefer, cut it the same size but use a shim to adjust the position of the score lines (watch the tutorial to see what I mean!)

It's reasonably easy to calculate the dimensions if your item is a nice, regular shop, but what if it's irregular, like my polymer clay dragon here (based on the work of Christi Friesen who makes the most AMAZING polymer clay creations and writes wonderful books showing you how to make your own!)?

I'll show you how I do it in the tutorial below!

I do hope you enjoyed the video!  My finished box had a little bit too much room for my dragon, but that's because I was too generous with the "ease" I allowed.   You need some ease so that you can get the item in and out without too much trouble, but I was a bit too cautious.  I used some tulle to fill the gaps, and it looks really quite posh - so I'm calling it a happy accident!

Keep crafting,
