When I was making this card, the weather was doing its usual September thing;  a bit cooler, the leaves beginning to turn to brown, some blustery showers - so it seemed like a good idea to get going on the Christmas cards (because when you craft, you start early!)  

I was not expecting the sudden heatwave.  

I was particularly surprised by how hot it was when we went to the Harry Potter studios.  Definitely the warmest weather I've experienced this year, and the last thing I wanted to wear was a wooly sweater.

So this card, I'm afraid, is not suitable for the weather, and for that I apologise.    It does show off the Cable Knit textured impressions folder beautifully, though, so I hope you'll forgive me.  And who knows, by the time this is published, the weather may have returned to normal!

It's beginning to look a lot like...

Hello everyone.  Here's my last blog post before Christmas, and it's short and sweet!  This is a really easy way of taking a plain gift bag and turning it into something special.  I hope you like it, and I wish you a happy and healthy festive season.

Fleece Navidad

Hello bloggers, me again!

Today's card feature a sweet punch art sheep, who is hoping for a snog from a handsome ram- we're calling her Baabara -

My husband had lots of fun coming up with alternative sentiments - like - "Baa Humbug!" and "Fleece on Earth".  The card is going to some friends in Australia - and yes, I know they have a lot of sheep in Australia but I don't know if they have urban sheep.  I bet their sheep are nice, well-behaved sheep, not the wooly hooligans we have here...

Nesting Parcels Christmas Card

Today’s card transforms from one parcel to three.  You could, if you wanted, tuck a gift card into the middle layer.

It’s reasonably straightforward to make – however, you do need to pay attention to the measurements so that the three layers nest properly.  Here are the measurements you will need –

Cut three pieces of card –

11 ½ by 3 ½, score at ½ inch, and 5 ¾ inch (finished size 5 ¼ by 3 ½)

8 ½ by 3 ¼, score at ½ inch and 4 ½ inch (finished size 4 by 3 ¼)

6 by 2 ¾, score at ½ inch and 2 ¾ inch (finished size 2 ¾ by 2 ¾)

On the reverse of each piece of card, draw a line ½ inch from the bottom edge.  One the medium and large pieces, also draw a line ½ inch from the top.

Mark the halfway points for front and back of the finished layers, from the left (where you scored at ½ inch) –

Large -  3 ¼ (for the notch) and 8 ½ (for the slit)

Medium – 2 ½ and 6 ½

Small   - mark on the bottom edge at 4 5/8  

Like this - 

Cut three pieces of DSP -

5 x 3 1/4

3 3/4 x 3

2 1/2 x 2 1/2

Simply Sketched Saturday - 4

I'm feeling very festive right now, with the holiday season upon us.  In fact, when you read this, I will have been to my first Christmas party of the year with some of my colleagues from the office.  So my contribution is a Christmas card. 

See the gold "Peace" sentiment?   I cut it out in craft foam (also known as fun foam or funky foam).  In its original size, it was too big for the card, so I used my heat gun to shrink it (carefully, because if you get too close you can make the foam shrivel up.  How do you think I know that?) Ever since I discovered that you can shrink this stuff I have been having so much fun with it!

Once it was shrunk right down, I pressed it into my Versamark ink and dipped it into gold embossing powder before heating it again.  And there you are!  Now, if you're working your way through the blog hop, please move on to the

Noel Shutter Card

I may have mentioned once or twice that I enjoy action/kinetic cards.  I’ve been fascinated by pop-ups and paper engineering ever since I was a littlie, so they do feature on this blog from time to time.  Today I’m showing you a shutter card (sometimes called a magic marquee card).  Here’s the layout for this card–

Flying Robin Card

It's starting to feel that Christmas is getting near now.  It's turned much colder hereabouts , after days of rain coming in sideways (Storm Barney was doing his worst!).  OK, I'm a big kid, but I always hope for a white Christmas - and we don't get one very often at all.  We do see plenty of robins and holly bushes, though.
