Sale-A-Bration - Mini Notebook

Hello bloggists, and welcome to another Sale-a-Bration Saturday, where I share a project that I've made using one of the items from the Sale-a-Bration catalogue.  

If you've seen the Sale-a-Bration catalogue, you might be wondering what on earth it has to do with this mini notebook!  After all, that's Floral Boutique DSP that you can see there.  But look closer!

Do you see those index cards peeping out along the edge there?  Here's a better picture!

They come with the Card Tin.  You get 9 of them, and I also used the chipboard packing that keeps them from getting damaged in transit to make part of the cover.

I will be completely honest and say that this project turned into a real nightmare.  It should have been easy - I've made quite a few similar notebooks over the years - but it took THREE goes before I got it right, and took me all day to film!  I have to get my filming done when I have the place to myself - I don't have a craft room, I work in my living room - so I get everything ready ahead of time.  I expected this one to take next to no time to film...there's no law against being wrong, is there?

I did it in the end, though...

Was it worth the effort?  I really hope so!

Pillar Candle Box

Well, it's here - the new autumn/winter catalogue!  Have you seen it yet?  I'll be putting a link to the downloadable version at the bottom of this page - but there's nothing like getting your hot little hands on the real thing, so let me know if you're in the UK and want a copy (email me with your details - keren@tuppencecoloured.co.uk).  

Can you spot what's new on today's project?  It's the kraft trim the looks just like rope to me.  It's really soft and pliable though, not like rope at all.  This box holds the pillar candle that I decorated last week - I've been asked to show how to make one and your wish is my command (and there's another box to hold the stone coaster following soon!)  

The box needed to have a base that was 3 inches square to hold the candle, and that means that it took  the full width of a piece of 12 x 12 card with nothing left over...so how did I manage to get it to fit together?  Watch the video to find out!

Measurements for the box - 

12 x 11 (not as stated in the video!)  score at 3, 4 and 9 inches on the 12 inch edge and at
1/2 inch, 3 1/2 inches - turn the card and score at 3 inches.
 If you follow these measurements you won't need to trim the 1/2 strip off the base of the box.

Cut 4 paper panels for the front 3 3/4 by 4 1/4 and one 3 3/4 square for the lid

Origami boxes

Hello bloggists, and welcome!

Just for once, today's project has no stamping at all.  The star box is a classic origami fold and not difficult to do, but I hope you agree that it's very effective. Here's the how-to -

I made two, mainly because when I checked the video the paper rustling made it difficult to hear what I was saying.  I tried voice-over, but in the end I decided to just redo the whole thing.  I hope you'll try this for yourself.  You can vary the size of the finished box just by changing the size of the square of paper you start with.
