Get into gear!

Hello, and welcome!

One of the benefits of being a Stampin’ Up!  Demonstrator is that you get the chance to go to the On Stage events.  They happen twice a year, in April and November.  Among other things, you get to see the new catalogue and to see new products demonstrated before anyone else does.

At the last On Stage in November, among the featured items was the Geared up Garage suite of products.  Now, I do love a bit of Steampunk so I was very interested when we were shown how to make cardstock look like rusty metal using SU inks and embossing powder. 

It’s taken me a while to get around to playing with this technique and here’s the result! 

I did add my own twist to the technique too.  Here’s what I did –

When I started this project, I was focusing on the technique so didn’t really have a finished item in mind.  I was originally thinking that I’d put the gears onto a greeting card, but in the end I decided that they’d look good on a little box.  I added some texture to the box too, and it all looks wonderfully grungy!

I’m all booked for April On Stage later this month and I’m getting so excited about it, I can’t wait to see what will be in the 2019-20 Annual catalogue…I love being a SU demo!

Tall hexagonal box

Hello and welcome to my blog.

I’ve said it before -  I do enjoy making boxes.


So as soon as I saw the Window Box dies in the Spring catalogue they went right to the top of my wish list.  I’m really happy that they have been carried forward into the annual catalogue (coming soon!)


For today's project, I've used the dies to make the lid of this box.


Doing it this way means that the base of my box can be as tall as I need it to be!

Copper Embossed Box

Hello Bloggists and welcome.

Today's project was inspired by something that I saw while I was watching a history programme. The presenter was talking to another historian in a beautiful room in a palace and on a desk in the background was a lovely item that I think might be an inkstand. 

Whatever it was, I thought it was a beautiful shape and it reminded me of the Window Box. I am also a bit obsessed with the copper foil and the hexagons embossing folder so I couldn't wait to play. This is what I made.

Love Hearts Tealights box

Hello bloggists, and welcome!

I've been dying to play with the dies that cut the card for this box since I saw it in the catalogue.  I'm a sucker for boxes, and I do like the hexagonal shape.

The colours I've used here are a bit different to my usual choices.  They're inspired by the Love Hearts tea lights I found in the supermarket.

Here they are (along with my cuppa!) while I was planning the project.  Very Love-hearty.   Disappointingly, they aren't scented - but perhaps Love Hearts scented candles would be too much of a good thing.

What do you think of it?  Despite my reservations about the colour combinations, I think it came out OK!
