A "Tweet" gift bag!

Hello, and welcome!

Sometimes a project just comes together as if by magic.  Everything just  works, it all looks amazing, and it's just a joy to create.

This was not one of those projects.

I made this bag three times.

Version 1 I made with Noble Peacock speciality DSP, which is gorgeous but a bit of a nightmare to film because of the flare from the foil, so I decided to re-film with a different paper.  I do love the Bird Ballad paper, so that's what I used.

This time the camera was out of focus.  

Third time lucky!

Free asa a Bird - Rainfall Card

Hello, and welcome!

I've been intrigued by the magic rainfall cards I've been seeing around the interwebs of late.  These have beads strung onto invisible thread and when you tilt the card, the beads run from one end to the other, like this -

This is one of those cards that I could play with for ages.  The sound of the beads running along the thread is very soothing.  

Here's how I made the card - 

Wouldn't you love to get a card like this one?  Although it took a bit of time to make, I think the results were worth it.

Little Boxes

Today I’ve made a box to fit the trinket dish I embellished a short time ago (you can find out more about that project here). Putting a small, inexpensive item into a pretty box makes it much more giftable (is that a word?) don’t you think?

I made my box to fit my dish, and if you happen to want a box that size then you can follow my measurements in the tutorial. 

However, if the item you want a box for is a different size, then here’s how you go about deciding what size you need to cut and score your card - 

 

  Measure the item that you want to fit in your box.

   

  Width x Length x Height  

   

  To calculate the size to cut your card:

 

  Length plus twice the height  

  Width plus twice the height  

  Score at the "height" dimension on all sides.  

   

  To calculate the size for the lid, add 1/8"(3mm) to the length and width.

(If maths isn't your strong point, try using this Excel spreadsheet to take the brain strain away!)

Free as a Bird - Trinket Dish

Hello and welcome!

Today's project is a small home decor item.  

I wanted to experiment with getting a stamped image onto this little dish - it came in a set of three from the pound shop, so it was a real bargain!

The technique is super-easy, especially if you use my "secret sauce" (recipe from Pink Poodle Crafts) to stop water-based ink from running!

I also made the fridge magnet while I was at it. The finished items would make cute and inexpensive gifts - you could even make some for a craft fair. It's a quick and easy technique - but you do have to allow for the drying time, of course.
