Flat pens!

Hello everyone, welcome!

It’s a super-quick project today.

I came across the idea of flat pens/bookmark pens while browsing YouTube.

It seems they’ve been around for a while but I’ve never come across them before.

My first thought was – can you actually, really, write with them? It turns out you can. I wouldn’t want to write a dissertation using one, but for jotting down notes or a quick shopping list, it’s fine and surprisingly comfortable in the hand.

Here’s how I made mine –

Because I wanted to experiment I used the super-inexpensive pens I had lying around (to give to customers at workshops so they could write their shopping lists). Afterwards I found better-quality ball-point pen refills on Amazon at under £2 for 10.

I'm going to make some to tuck into the Sticky Note holders I've been making!

Favourite things - faceted gift bag

Hello and welcome!

It’s Favourite Things time – in this case, this faceted gift bag.

I just LOVE the shape – and the Perennial Essence paper. This little gift bag works well made with 4, 5 or 6 facets (I did try it with 3 but it didn’t end well). I particularly like the 5-facet version, so that’s what I’ve made today.

It's good to be back!

Hello, and welcome!

Well, we have finally, at long last, finished our marathon destash/declutter and I can get back to doing some crafting!

Over the past few weeks just about every spare minute has been spent in taking stuff out of cupboards, piling it up, sifting through it and deciding what's being kept, what's being given away, and what is going in the bin. If you've seen any of the "doing Konmari method" videos on YouTube you'll get the idea of how it works.

There was much, much more of it than I expected and it took a lot longer than I thought it would. I honestly don't know how it all fitted into the place to begin with. I still don't know how I managed to fill four big boxes with mugs, but at least I know now why there was no room in any of the kitchen cupboards - it's because they were full of mugs!

It was worth doing, though. The electrical work that kicked it all off has been completed. I've managed to get my craft supplies (those that survived the cull!) together so that, in theory, I can get whatever I need quickly.

I'm sure it'll work when I can remember where I put everything.

Anyway, I am now able to play again. It's a short and sweet project today - I'm just getting myself back into the swing of things - with a couple of sneaky peekies at products that will be coming in the Autumn/Winter catalogue!

So that's all for now. I'm hoping to get back to my regular schedule soon, but meanwhile, don't forget to follow me and turn on notifications of when I post as blogging may be a bit irregular for now!

Tall slim chocolate box

Hello and welcome!

Today I've made a box to hold a bar of my favourite chocolate, using this absolutely glorious DSP. It's called Perennial Essence and it is just stunning.

To calculate the dimensions I used a spreadsheet of my own devising (I know - get me!)

Did you spot the ribbon? It started off white, but I dyed it with re-inkers. There's a link to the how-to video (from Cheri's Cards) in the description box below the video. Health warning - it's addictive!
