Simply Sketched 24

Thank you for joining us for another Simply Sketched Saturday
Challenge!

We’re so excited to be sharing this hop with you.  The products used are all available in the current Annual, or seasonal, Stampin’ Up!® Catalogues*.

Today’s challenge has been set by Keila Calver – and there’s no sketch to show you.  Keila has challenged us to make something using window sheet, otherwise known as acetate, which, as you know, is completely transparent.

I had a few ideas for this one, but eventually settled for this Moon Baby card, featuring the brand-new Stampin’ Blends pens (on sale from 1 November, so not long to wait!) and a bit of out-of-the-frame die cutting.

There’ll be a tutorial on my YouTube channel soon if you want to see how I made it)
I’m really pleased with the way it came out – the colours look rather retro to me, which I like, and are quite strong  and clear.  Lovely!
So now, on with the blog hop!  You can get to Dee's blog by clicking on the button -

Keep crafting, and  please do come back again soon!

Rockabye Baby

Hi bloggists, and welcome.

Cute's not my thing.  And I find it very hard to explain why I love the Moon Baby stamps so much!  I suppose it's just the right side of cute for me.

I really wanted to make the baby rock, too.  Last year I made a card with a tilt-pivot mechanism and this card works the same way, except that the mechanism is at the back, instead of the front.

It's quite hard to show it in action, but I'll have a try -

Here's the tutorial

I used a screw punch -you can find a similar one  here  - a Crop-o-Dile Big Bite would also work.  Or just make a hole with a piercing tool, but a smooth edge helps the movement happen.

Hope you enjoyed this video.

Custom sized envelope

Hello bloggists, and welcome.
Remember the popping box that I posted a couple of weeks ago?  I said then that I would make an envelope for it, and so I have.

The project wasn't without incident, though.  You know how, sometimes, when you're crafting, everything is in exactly the right place and it all just works together beautifully?  This wasn't one of those times.

I don't know what I was thinking when I planned this (and I did plan it, honestly!) but it wasn't about how envelopes are made.

Here's the video -

Yes, I made it back to front.

I'm going to quit before I hurt myself and have a nice rest!

See you again soon,

Baby Shower card

Hello bloggists, and welcome.

I can’t resist a play on words(although I do turn the death stare on my husband when he comes up with a pun– he doesn’t need any encouragement from me!) and when I saw the baby with the umbrella stamp in the Moon Baby set, I immediately thought “baby shower”.

The picture distorts the colour a bit.  It’s made in Peekaboo Peach and Smokey Slate.  For some reason, the peach (which is very pretty in real like) looks yellow.  If you know the gender of the baby, you could, of course, change the colour accordingly – the Smokey slate would look very good with Soft Sky or Pink Pirouette, for example.

If you’ve followed my ramblings for any length of time, you might also have noticed that I enjoy making action cards and pop-ups.  This one is a “popping box” card.  It folds flat, but has an elastic band running inside, so when you let go of it – it pops up, with quite a bit of energy.

Here’s how I made it.

Attaching the elastic is a little bit fiddly, and you want to be sure to use a strong adhesive for the attachment points.  If you use tape, I’d add wet glue as well, and make sure it has a good long time to dry properly.
Now all I need to do is to make an envelope to fit it – so watch this space!

That’s it for today,

See you soon,

Rockabye Baby!

Hello bloggists,  and welcome.

I may have created a monster.   I can't now remember how it happened that the cat spotted that there are a lot of videos featuring cats and kittens on YouTube,  but she has.  The result is that she has taken to plonking herself right in front of the computer screen to watch her favourite programme,  preferably one with kittens and lots of mewing.

So I am writing this on my tablet, because when I got in from work she was sitting ready, with a hopeful expression and I couldn't resist that smooshy little face!

Fortunately,  she gave me enough space to make this card

I'm not usually a fan of cutesy stamps, but I found the Moon Baby set so appealing I couldn't resist it.

It's a rocker card, of course.   Here's the video tutorial.
So that's it for today.   I hope you enjoyed it.

Back soon, as long as Mysti lets me near the computer!
