Pootlers Design Team- Lovely Stitching Week 4

Can you believe it?  The final week of my stint as part of the Pootlers Design Team.   Wow! That’s gone so fast!

I’ve made no secret of the fact that the Lovely Stitching set wasn’t at the top of my wish list, and I had a moment of panic when I saw what we’d been asked to use, followed by total crafter's block.  However, I have found that needing to produce SOMETHING by a particular date is a great way of getting me going and after four weeks I think I've got to grips with it.

Today's card has a surprise inside - it's a pop - up!

This kind of pop-up is one of the easiest to make.  It's called a V-fold (because the bit that makes the pop-up happen is folded in the shape of a V.  One thing that you need to be careful of when making this sort of pop-up is that it doesn't show when the card is closed, so the V needs to be set high enough up on the folded card.  I think I was overly cautious when designing this card though - I could probably have placed my pop-up a bit lower down.  If you look up my YouTube channel you can find the tutorial I made.

Butterfly Spinner

Hello bloggists, welcome to my blog.

It's another kinetic card today, using the Affectionately Yours DSP.  The action happens when you open the card - so I'll let you watch the video tutorial before we go any further!

 

I would definitely recommend pulling the elastic as tight as you can, because with use it does stretch a bit.  

In response to a comment on one of my YouTube videos, I'll post a picture of my notes with the measurements here - I do hope you can understand my scribbles!  Leave me a comment to let me know if you find it helpful.

Triangle Box

Hello bloggists! As I write this, I'm at the start of a week's leave from work, and I'm hoping that I will get lots of crafty projects done and recorded.  I like to have a few videos in the bag, so that if for any reason, I can't get on with things as planned I can still keep to my schedule (I try to get a video up on YouTube on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) because, you know, stuff happens.  Today started with a total absence of hot water, and we had to call the gas man in.  He got the back boiler going, but it's on its last legs so we may need a new water heater.  

Fortunately, I'd got my next project ready to go.  I saw a triangular box on TV and wondered how it was done - so I decided to have a go at one myself.  It turned out to be easier than I thought - see what you think...

This Saturday I will be at the Stampin' Up! On Stage Local event -  I've pre-recorded a video and I'm hoping that the scheduling works OK. (I've just reached 2,000 followers on YouTube and I'm so happy, considering my original target was 100, and if you're one of the lovely people who subscribes to my channel, thank you, thank you!)  I'll be telling you all about it (as much as I can) when I get back and showing you the swaps I've collected.  I LOVE being a demonstrator...

Easy Fold Gift Box

 Hello bloggers, welcome to my blog.

Today I've made this gift box.  It can be stored flat and is very easy to make, but looks very fancy!

There was enough card left from an A4 sheet to make a small greeting card as well - bargain!

After I finished filming I realised that brushing Wink of Stella over the lower part of the balloons would add the finishing touch.  It doesn't show up too well in the picture but in real life it gives a lovely subtle hint of glitter.

On the CASE

Does your crafting Mojo ever go off on holiday?  Mine does, and it's usually when I absolutely HAVE to create something to a deadline, such as when my husband comes home from work and announces that so-and-so in the office is retiring at the end of the week and can I throw a card together?  That's usually the signal for the ol' Mojo to pack its bags and head off for a Destination Unknown.

That's the signal for me to turn to my Stampin' Up! catalogue to see if there's anything I can CASE.  CASE stands for  "Copy And Share Everything" and  the SU catalogue is a great source of inspiration.  It's much more than just a list of products - it's full of ideas.   

These two cards are quite close to the original versions which are on page 74 of this year's annual catalogue. They were so easy to make.  They both use the Wild about Flowers stamp set - they're two-step, photopolymer stamps so it's very easy to get the flowers lined up with the stems.   The one on the right has a bit of Gorgeous Grunge as well.
