Today I've made this gift box. It can be stored flat and is very easy to make, but looks very fancy!
There was enough card left from an A4 sheet to make a small greeting card as well - bargain!
After I finished filming I realised that brushing Wink of Stella over the lower part of the balloons would add the finishing touch. It doesn't show up too well in the picture but in real life it gives a lovely subtle hint of glitter.

There are those
who think sending a gift card is a bit lazy. I don’t agree with those
people. I absolutely LOVE getting a gift
card to my favourite online retailers. Whatever you enjoy doing, you can get a gift card for it - or so it seems . I can have HOURS of fun putting my shopping list together – what should I get? It should be something I normally wouldn't get for myself – but what? I can take ages spending a tenner, and I love every minute of it.
I made this little box as a way of making a simple gift card a special gift. It has space for a small treat as well as the card, and I made a tiny greeting card to go inside as well.
Stampin' Up! co-ordinates its colours so beautifully and they helpfully tell you what they've used in their Designer Series Papers, so everything works together. I wouldn't have thought of combining Blackberry Bliss with Lost Lagoon and Calypso Coral - but see how well they went together!

Hello, lovely people who are visiting my blog - welcome1 Today I'm revisiting my Stay-closed box, which I've resized slightly. This one is made from a piece of card 6 1/2 by 6 inched, scored at 3 and 6 inches on the long side and at 1 inch and 4 inches on the shorter side. If you watch the tutorial, I explain the principles involved in resizing the box to suit your needs.
There's a bit of a story attached to this box - which I do seem to have originated. I'm normally the sort of person who takes someone else's idea and adapts it to suit my purpose. However, just for once, I can lay claim to starting something. Earlier this year I was making a stay-closed packet that I'd found in a publication from Hot off the Press, in a video for my YouTube channel. The design called for the flaps at the base of the packet to be trimmed to about a 45 degree angle, and I was about to do that when I realised that, if I left that step out, it made a rather attractive shaped box - so I changed design direction there and then and pretended that had been my intention all along I shared the picture in the Pootles Craft Forum group on Facebook, people said nice things about the box, made copies of it - and before I knew it I was seeing "my" box everywhere. I was - and still am - delighted, especially when Dawn Griffith CASE'd it (I felt that I had truly ARRIVED at that point!), and I spotted a die-cut version on TV. It also turned up for download in the Silhouette store in the form of a file for the Cameo or Portrait cutters. I am truly thrilled! Anyway, here's the tutorial. (At a couple of points in the video you can hear a strange little noise, for which I apologise- it's the cat,snoring!)

I love crafting
with paper, but I also love learning how to make new things, and today’s
project is a two-in-one – as well as the sweet little box that holds the tin of
lip balm, I also made the lip balm.
The tins I used fitted very nicely into a 1 ½ diameter hole so I made my boxes accordingly.
The measurements were –
Cardstock 10 inches by 4 inches
Score on the long edge at 1 inch, 3 inches, 4 inches, 6 inches,7 inches, 7 ½ inches, and 9 ½ inches – these last two score lines will help form the holder for the tin
Score on the short edge at 1 inch and 3 inches. Also score at ½ inch and 3 ½ inches part way at the end of the card where the holder will be (the 7 ½ and 9 ½ inch points)
The tutorial explains how to put it all together.
The lip balm is very simple to make; to fill two 15 ml tins you need 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of
coconut oil and 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of beeswax. Melt the beeswax over hot water, and then add
in the coconut until that’s melted as well.
You can also do this in the microwave – try 30 seconds at a time. Once the beeswax is melted, the coconut oil
won’t take long so be careful!
If you want it to taste nice, put in a few
drops of flavouring (the sort you use in cooking; I used lemon in mine) and if
you want it to be tinted, add in a bit of lipstick. I also pierced a Vitamin E capsule and added
that to the mix – it acts as a preservative as well as being good for the skin. Mix it all together and pour into whatever
container you’re using.
